Financial coach and business instructor Stacey Knapper (who blogs at A Cup Full of Me) recently shared this gem with CCIT, and it’s a resource you won’t want to miss.

If you’ve ever taught an online or hybrid course (or even used discussion boards in a regular face-to-face course), you know how hard it can be to create an active and collaborative learning environment. It’s a surprising dilemma. So much of what students already do online in their everyday lives (tweet, post, share, like, etc.) is inherently collaborative. But far too often, online classwork can feel just as isolating as an old-fashioned mail-in correspondence course.

In Adding Some Tec-Variety, Curtis Bonk and Elaine Khoo offer “100+ activities for motivating and retaining learners online”. Bridging the problematic gap between theory and practice, the authors establish a framework of 10 principles of motivation and offer a variety of lessons and learning activities for each.
